Volunteer & Safe Environment
There is a place for your gifts here. From liturgy to outreach to special events, we'll help you find where you fit. Volunteers who work with children complete Safe Environment (EIM) training.
Volunteer roles in faith formation
Catechists share their faith with children in small groups through the year, with guidance and support from our catechesis team — two adult catechists lead each group, on Sunday mornings or alternating Wednesday afternoons.
Substitute Catechists step in when a catechist can’t serve. Faith Friends are paired one-on-one with children who benefit from extra support and patience. Sacrament Prep volunteers assist with retreats and events.
Welcome Desk & everyday outreach
Welcome Desk volunteers greet people in the narthex before and after every weekend Mass — welcoming newcomers, promoting upcoming events, and handing out bulletins. It's one of the most-needed volunteer slots every single week, and no experience is required.
Food for Our Neighbors keeps it simple: grab an extra non-perishable item from your pantry on the way to Mass and drop it in the narthex baskets. A driver team then delivers everything collected to the St. Louis Food Pantry — that team always welcomes another driver.
Hospitality & Ushers serve at every Mass too — welcoming worshipers, helping with the collection, and keeping things running smoothly. See Music & Liturgical Ministries for that role.
Safe Environment first
EIM (Ethics & Integrity in Ministry) training is required for all volunteers in contact with minors or vulnerable adults — in practice, most volunteers. It’s also genuinely useful formation for protecting your own family.
Safe Environment (EIM) training
Protecting children and vulnerable adults is a sacred trust. The Diocese of Austin's Ethics & Integrity in Ministry (EIM) training and application is required for all volunteers in contact with minors or vulnerable adults — in practice, most volunteers. The workshops are also genuinely useful for protecting your own family.
A few times a year, St. Theresa also hosts an in-person EIM workshop on campus in the Family Center. Seats require an EIM account and pre-registration — arrive on time, since late arrivals aren't admitted, and note that children can't attend the workshop itself.
