Principals, through the years
Who has led our school
St. Theresa Catholic School opened in 1986. These are the principals our records name, in order, with the dates of the documents that name them. Some years have a name, some have only a clue, and some are still blank. If you were there, help us fill them in.
How to read the dates: “in our records” means the earliest and latest dated documents we hold that name that person as principal, or once as president of the school (the school’s and the parish’s websites, bulletins and newsletters, school board minutes, the minutes of the Home School Association (later the Home and School Association), the Texas Education Agency’s school directories, and the parish’s 2018 anniversary book). A web page with no date of its own is described but never sets a year, except a staff list or contact page, which shows who held the job on the day it was captured. The years are not exact terms: a principal may have started before the first document and stayed after the last. Assistant principals and deans of students are not listed.
-
Terry France
Remembered as our first principal, when the school opened in 1986. The only document we hold is a photo caption in the parish’s 2018 anniversary book, “Saying Grace with Principal Terry France”, with no year.
-
A new principal was hired in 1988. The school’s technology plan timeline says so but does not give the name. If you know who it was, please tell us.
-
Mr. Davidson
A class photo in the parish’s 2018 anniversary book shows a sign that reads “MR. DAVIDSON, PRIN.” for the 1990-91 school year. The book gives only the last name.
-
We hold no dated document that names the principal in these years. The next trace is a 1996 staff biography in which a teacher says Mr. Bill Davidson recruited her; it gives no title. If you were here, tell us who it was.
-
William S. Davidson
Named as principal on the school’s website of 1997 and 1998: in the Home School Association minutes of August 20, 1997, in the technology plan he signed that October, and in the staff directory captured in February 1998. A classroom page captured in April 1999 sends students to “Mr. Davidson’s office” but gives no title. Our records do not say whether he is the Mr. Davidson of 1990-91.
-
Suzanne Madero
Welcomed in the parish bulletin of June 27, 1999 as “our new school principal”, with “a Master of Education degree and more than 20 years experience in teaching and school administration”. A technology award notice of March 2000 lists her as principal, and the Texas Education Agency’s directory of accredited schools for 2000-01 lists her as the school’s principal.
-
Joanne Andruscavage
Named as principal in the school board minutes of August 2001 and in the Texas Education Agency’s directory for 2001-02. The school’s press releases name her as principal in 2002 and 2003, including the September 2003 release about the middle school expansion. The last document we hold that names her as principal is the school’s admission letter for 2004-05, dated January 5, 2004.
-
David L. O’Connell
The Home and School Association minutes of February 12, 2004 list a “Principal’s Report” by Mr. O’Connell and speak of “his current position as interim principal”. The school’s Development Board minutes of May 14, 2004 say a job description was “approved by Mr. O’Connell”, with no title. A welcome page in his voice on the school’s website, captured in February 2005, introduces him as the eighth grade homeroom teacher and middle school social studies teacher.
-
Gloria Thomas
The school board minutes of August 18, 2004 record her report to the board as principal. She signed the principal’s welcome on the school website, captured in October 2004, and the admission letter of January 20, 2005. The parish’s Contact Us page, captured in March 2008, lists her as principal. That is the last document we hold that names her.
-
We hold no dated page, newsletter or bulletin that names the principal in these years. One undated school web page, written no earlier than fall 2010, is signed by Gracie Burback as principal. If you were here, tell us who led the school and when she began.
-
Gracie Burback
The parish newsletter The Good News names her as principal in Advent 2011, fall 2012 and Lent 2013, and the parish bulletin of June 21-22, 2014 lists her as principal. An undated school web page, written no earlier than fall 2010, carries her signature as principal beside the pastor’s.
-
Debbie Solcher
Listed as assistant principal on the school website in December 2011. The parish bulletin of June 28-29, 2014 lists her as “Interim Principal”. The April-May 2015 Good News calls her “our interim principal” and the June-July 2015 issue says “Debbie Solcher is Principal”. The Diocese of Austin’s school listing still names her principal on December 4, 2016.
-
Ann Walters
The June-July 2015 Good News says she “accepted the position of President of the School”, with Debbie Solcher as principal. A May 2017 news item on the school’s website calls her “principal Ann Walters”, and the parish bulletin of April 21, 2019 names her “President and Principal of STCS” and says her time at the school ends June 14.
-
Rachel Eckert
Named interim principal in June 2019: the parish bulletin of June 16, 2019 announces it and says she had been the school’s Director of Enrollment. The parish bulletins list her as “Interim Principal” through June 2020, and the school’s message when online learning began, March 25, 2020, is by “Mrs. Eckert”.
-
Brian Wheeler
Announced as the new principal in the parish bulletin of April 5, 2020: “Brian Wheeler will come on board this summer to lead the school.” The school’s website, captured in April 2026, says he “became principal of St. Theresa Catholic School in July 2020”.
Built from the school’s and the parish’s websites, bulletins and newsletters, school board minutes, Texas Education Agency directories and the parish’s 2018 anniversary book, 1990 to 2026.
